Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the "NL" category of employment (non-fixed work week) An AFT- NL professional staff member or librarian who is required to work beyond 35 hours shall be compensated through compensatory time off. Compensatory time shall be earned for hours worked beyond the normal work week, or on an employee's regular day off, if requested and approved by their supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Associate Director of Transfer and Graduate Admissions, the admissions counselor works primarily with transfer students and the recruitment, promotion, and application review of students transferring from 2-year and 4-year colleges, including partner programs, special programs, re-admit students, and degree completion adult students. Operating by traveling to partner schools, other events, and working within the SlATE CRM environment, the admissions advisor will use the CRM to track data, evaluate data, make admissions decisions, evaluate transfer credits, and yield students to enroll at Ramapo. Knowledge of or experience in Ramapo College and 2-year and local 4-year college curricula, policies, procedures, and collaboration across offices on campus to ensure seamless transition is required. Enrollment targets across populations are to be assigned and met or exceeded each term with the resources provided.
Examples of Duties
DUTIES:
Represent the college with professionalism in settings that will include prospective students and their families, professional and community partners, administration, faculty, and staff.
Manage recruitment territory including area schools/colleges, hospitals/health care facilities, businesses, professional conferences, and community organizations. This can include day, evening, virtual, and weekend events with in-state and out-of-state travel.
Assist with the planning and execution of on-campus, off-campus, and virtual recruitment events (i.e. Information Sessions, Open Houses, One-on-one appointments, Presentations, Panels).
Assist with the processing and review of transfer and undergraduate readmit applications.
Conduct extensive outreach and follow-up with students at all stages of the recruitment and enrollment process via phone calls, texts, emails, and one-on-one appointments.
Regularly meets with students (in-person and virtually) to explain admissions requirements, transfer process and transfer credits, degree programs, support services, campus life, etc.
Delivers preliminary academic advisement services which include: academic planning, course selection, interpretation of institutional requirements, selection of intended majors/minors, transfer course equivalencies, general education/major/school core/ minor requirements, verifying prerequisite and testing completion, course sequencing, alternate means of earning credit (CLEP /PLEX/NYU Language Testing), appropriate credit loads and graduation requirements.
Keeps abreast of catalogs and academic policies and procedures of the colleges, which include changes in curriculum, academic requirements, and exceptions to the requirements. All resources used to advise students and promote programs to enroll students.
Adheres to laws that govern admission, academic advising, and college practices.
Builds effective partnerships with Community College counselors and advisors. Develops a sound working knowledge of the various associate degree/college transfer programs and course requirements at identified community colleges. Partners with the community colleges to help students understand the pathway to a Ramapo College four-year degree.
Utilizes available technology/programs (ie: Slate, Banner, Google Suite, Microsoft Office/Teams, NJ Transfer, etc.) in the delivery of recruitment, enrollment, and academic advisement services.
Completes all other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions and/or the Associate Director.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience working in higher education is required. Experience working in Admissions, Enrollment Management, or College Advisement is preferred. Working with non-traditional students, community college students, and transfer students is preferred.
Candidate must demonstrate an understanding of CRM systems, with Slate experience preferred
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
TRAVEL:
This position requires frequent travel and reporting to partner institutions. Locations of partner institutions will vary, and the reporting schedule will be determined by the supervisor. A valid driver's license and use of personal vehicle will be required for travel to and from work sites.
