Department Statement:
The Office of the Registrar at Colgate University is seeking applications for a full-time Associate or Assistant Registrar who will develop a nuanced understanding of our enrollment-related data (broadly-defined) and information-systems. The position reports to the University Registrar, who also serves as the Director of Institutional Planning, Assessment and Research. General responsibilities of all administrative staff in the office include oversight and management of academic records; extensive knowledge of academic and University policies and procedures; exceptional discretion and judgment; and providing exceptional service to Colgates students, alumni, parents, faculty, and staff. Accountabilities:
Position primarily focuses on coordination and oversight of the office's operations relating to data management, reporting and information systems while attending to institutional priorities, policies and state, federal and other applicable laws. The role requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance within the registrar's office. This role requires leadership on best practices for and oversight of student information system optimization and planning (Banner and Degree Works), and will work with existing staff to automate critical office processes.

GOALS AND ASSESSMENT. Accountable for working in furtherance of office's goals, the university's mission, and institutional priorities while responding to opportunities and challenges and being reflective of conclusions drawn from assessment results and current best practices. Accountable for periodic assessment of effectiveness of services and operations toward achieving stated goals.

MANAGING RESOURCES. Accountable for providing office leadership on best practices for and oversight of student information system optimization and planning (Banner and Degree Works), and working with existing staff to automate critical office processes. Accountable for identifying needs for resources to effectively support current initiatives, services and offerings, including managing work plans, setting timelines and milestones, and involving others to deliver on time. Accountable for supporting the general functions of the office as necessary.

DATA USAGE. Accountable for maintaining data integrity, working closely with other University offices in support of analyses of student-related data to support data-informed decision making and scheduled reporting requirements of the University, and reporting to the national student clearinghouse, state and federal agencies, and relevant member organizations.

GUIDING AND DEVELOPING STAFF. Accountable for the effective supervision of student and casual wage workers, including hiring, training, scheduling, assigning work, monitoring work product, and addressing performance issues.


Professional Experience/Qualifications
- A combination of three years of work and/or graduate-level experience in a data-centered role.
- Demonstrated experience and/or training in SQL or other database query language.
- Ability to analyze and effectively communicate data to constituents of varying levels of data literacy.
- Demonstrated commitment to higher education.
- Equivalent experience as a Business Analyst in other industries will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more full-time equivalent years of experience working with Banner, DegreeWorks, Crystal, Tableau and SQL, or comparable tools.


Education
Bachelors Degree is required.
