The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, training, and qualifications. Position Summary:
The Business Graduate Admissions and Marketing Specialist at MSU Denver serves as the primary program-specific admissions counselor for prospective College of Business graduate students. The primary role is to support College of Business graduate programs by working collaboratively with the College's graduate programs team, program leadership, the University's marketing and communications department, Office of Graduate Studies, admissions department, and any other appropriate departments to ensure a consistent and accurate message regarding the College's graduate programs is being disseminated in all recruitment and marketing efforts. The Specialist will manage the application process, connect directly with all MBA and MPAcc graduate applicants, represent the College's graduate programs in recruitment efforts, run program-specific marketing campaigns, and generally support the assistant director of the business graduate programs.

The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for underrepresented groups.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Marketing/Recruitment (40%)
  • Implements outreach and recruiting activities using available university resources, on and off campus
  • Coordinates and participates in various facets of the recruiting program including on-campus visitation events, informational sessions, career fairs, graduate school fairs, site visits, networking events, class visits, targeted email communication
  • Provides one-on-one admissions counseling to prospective students
  • Conducts and records targeted follow-up communications (email, phone, web, social media, LinkedIn, etc.) with prospective students from initial contact through enrollment into a program
  • Executes an advertising and marketing plan to increase the internal and external exposure of graduate degrees offered through the College of Business
  • Orders, maintains, and distributes promotional materials relevant to the plan including but not limited to brochures, flyers, postcards, newsletters, and swag items
  • Builds and manages digital marketing campaigns
  • Conducts research and presents insights of graduate admission and marketing best practices and activities of local competitors to assistant director
  • Tracks marketing and recruiting expenses and regularly reports to leadership to ensure alignment with our annual budget


Admissions (Applications) (40%)
  • Tracks and manages applications within Slate, coordinating with Graduate Admissions and Admissions Systems to ensure all College of Business graduate applicants are being communicated to by the right team with the appropriate message in a timely manner
  • Advises applicants individually on remaining program-specific application requirements to assist applicants successfully complete their application
  • Works with the Colleges graduate program committees chairs and members to facilitate a smooth application review process and send out the appropriate decision to applicants in the given timeline
  • Maintain all application records and admission data for analysis in team Sharepoint site
  • Coordinates with Business Graduate Student Service Specialist to ensure a smooth hand-off once admitted to program, in terms of communication to new admit, any required leveling or pre-requisites, data collected for administrative purposes, and team processes
  • Coordinates with International Student Support (ISS) team as needed for newly admitted international student applicants
Data Management (10%)
  • Keeps data in relation to, but not limited to, inquiries, applicants, status in admissions funnel, outreach/connection points, status of application, conversion rates, and demographic information as applicable
  • Regularly reports accurate data to the Deans Office, Department Chairs, Business Graduate Program Committee and others as requested to support effective decision-making and strategic planning
General Program Support (10%)
  • Assists the Assistant Director of Business Graduate Programs with general program support as needed


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience working in admissions, academic advising, counseling, or similar higher education experience
  • Strong oral communication and public speaking skills to interact effectively with prospective students, advisors, alumni, university representatives and partners individually as well as in large and small groups
  • Demonstrated skills in writing and developing communications aligned with College/University branding efforts
  • Experience marketing a program or product, or with planning and implementing marketing campaigns
  • Ability to assess and employ a variety of communications tools including email, print and social media
  • Ability to interpret and communicate University policies and procedures to prospective students and the public
  • Ability to work effectively independently as well as collaborate with others at varying levels of the University

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Reliable transportation for recruitment purposes, including to locations that may not be well-served by transit
  • This position requires the set up and breakdown of recruitment materials, banners, etc. and therefore will require lifting up to 15 pounds and reaching above the head to set up recruiting banners and materials at events


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree
  • Experience in university admissions or university marketing and digital media
  • Comprehensive knowledge of or ability to quickly learn and understand academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs at colleges/universities
  • 2-5 years experience recruiting students in higher education
  • Proficiency managing database systems and/or CRM systems such as Slate, Salesforce, Hubspot, etc.
  • Experience with marketing, communications, event management, and graduate business education markets and environments
  • Experience designing effective marketing and promotional materials (or related items), with specific digital marketing campaign building and management experience in platforms such as Google Ads, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
